Our client is a leading design firm in Saudi Arabia, with over 35 years experience within their industry. The company has a number of offices across Saudi Arabia. The organisation specializes in interior design, landscaping, engineering, project management and site supervision.
OVERVIEW OF ROLE:
The QA / QC reports to the Project Manager and interfaces with the site inspectors and senior architect or engineer in charge of the professional disciplines as well as the contractors control staff. His duties and responsibilities are as follows;
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Monitor the construction of all elements of the project to ensure that the works are fully in accordance with the approved shop drawings and project specifications.
•Advise the senior architect or engineer in charge of the discipline concerned on the issue of site instructions calling for remedial measures and draft suitable site instructions when directed.
•Over see and direct the day to day work of the inspectors to ensure continuous timely and effective inspection of all construction and installation.
•Maintain formal inspection procedures including signing check logs for all elements prior to construction or concealment.
•Inspect the contractor’s temporary works and safety procedures and advise the project manager on their adequacy or otherwise and assist with the preparation of any necessary site instruction calling for corrective measures thereto.
•Supervise the activities of the contractor supplied site laboratory and field testing is carried out in accordance with recognized standards and procedures.
•Supervise the sampling and testing of concrete constituents, test tubes and monitors concrete slump and temperature during concreting activities.
•Ensures the contractor’s staff maintains proper meteorological equipment and record weather data correctly. Takes appropriate action when weather conditions affect concreting activities.
•Ensures that the contractors batching plant is correctly calibrated and that the concrete design mixes are adhered to.
•Supervises the sampling and testing of civil engineering materials e.g back fill materials and asphalt and directs the inspectors in the control of backfilling activities to ensure that proper compaction is achieved and maintained.
•When directed by the project manager, organizes the testing of those materials which cannot be tested in the laboratory site by an approved testing authority.
KEY SKILLS:
•Excellent knowledge of how to successfully prepare written reports as may be required by the project manager.
•High knowledge of how to appropriately advise the project manager and all the site team with regard to good building practice, construction methods, care of materials and workmanship, and with the proper co- ordination and work sequencing in relation to the installation of all finishes elements.
•Extensive knowledge of how to organise and carry out handover inspections in conjunction with the site supervision professionals and compile check lists identifying all items requiring corrective action.
•High level of experience in complying and preparing reports as requested by the project manager, and assist in reviewing structural and civil materials related submittals.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
•Degree in relevant field
•Minimum 3 years experience as a Senior Structural Engineer
•Must have an excellent command of the English language
